Multi-Day Mono-Juice Feasting – Healing Journey Day 8

Journal:

I am really enjoying my mornings. I always wake up feeling so good and didn’t even wake up once last night. It’s so nice to feel “normal.”

Today is my last day to consume apple juice. Although I have found that it is much easier to survive off of juice than I thought, I am getting tired of apple juice. I’m ready to try something else. That being said, today I changed my apple juice. I officially begin my organic juices today. Here is a picture of what I drank today:

Now, let me pause and discuss my thoughts here for a moment. This juice was physically easier on my stomach than the Simply Apple. I’m telling you people, it pays to buy the organic, small-company, pressed juices. The best is to do it fresh yourself, but if you’re in a situation like I am and that just isn’t possible, then this is second best. Upon researching the full process that Simply Apple uses, they separate things in the apple juice then fuse them back together. Here is an article from the Chicagoist that explains the process they use in their orange juice for your personal consideration:

So today, I got up, got ready and went to church. Yes, the tongue needed scraped again. This is an unpleasant side effect; I’m not going to lie. Everyday having the same bad taste in your mouth is terrible. Luckily enough, it is easy to fix through scraping so I have to remember that it could be a lot worse.

Today’s church service was a dedication to our school and the staff within it; it was wonderful. It’s nice to be uplifted, prayed for, and appreciated.

After church, I knew there would be a potluck. I drove with my housemates and packed a bottle of apple juice just incase they wanted to stay. They did, which was absolutely fine (though the smell of amazing vegan meatballs and rice were tempting). I stuck with feeding the baby (he’s becoming an excellent time-filler) and drinking my apple juice. Honestly, I didn’t take enough apple juice (note that for future reference). But since hunger and I aren’t that distant of friends, I was able to hold off until we came home.

I honestly did NOTHING the rest of the day. I stayed home, drank apple juice, rested, and at 8:00 pm (after Sabbath) watched The Olympia. It’s a tradition that my husband and I watch it every year.

So even though I did nothing, I do think I figured something important out. I think the bulk of my stomach discomfort is coming from the fact that I “think” I’m hungry and I drink more juice. I haven’t been drinking much water because I know there is water content in the juice. But I seriously think that even though I’m consuming very reasonable calories still, I need to break up my juice drinking. I don’t think my body is ready to digest all of those calories yet though I want to make sure I’m not consuming too little calories that I’m feeling weak again. The reason I am thinking this is simply because as the night went on, I had a determination to finish that jug of juice. I paid roughly $15 just for that jug and didn’t want to waste any of it. But the more I tried to finish in the evening, the more “blocked” my throat and stomach began to feel. The more I tried to finish, the more of that acid reflux/heartburn feeling I was getting. The more I tried to finish, the more unsettled my stomach was becoming. So sadly, I backed off and did not finish the whole thing. Slightly less than 2 cups of juice remained but I just wasn’t willing to suffer for it. So with my decision made, I went to bed.

Review of Symptoms:
– Tongue covered in white again; needed scraped.
– Acne slightly more subtle.
– Felt true hunger again today.
– Slept through the night last night.
– Figured out that I may be forcing myself to drink too much juice which is causing the upset in the evenings.

Weight at the end of the day = 181 lbs (up 1.2 lbs from yesterday)

Week 4 Day 7

It was so nice to be able to sleep in today! Especially after the events in the middle of the night.

I have moved 20+ times. I’m more accustomed to living in small towns or out in the country. However, since moving to the large city and living in buildings where crimes were committed, I feel a little “less safe”. I am very thankful to have dogs for this reason. They are a first warning, a first defence for any strangers trying to break in to my house. And when my dogs bark at around 1:30 in the morning? You better believe I think something is going on. My husband was in such a deep sleep he was answering my questions, but not really being awake. So I had to go downstairs to see what was going on. The problem was, I didn’t see anything. So either someone had been outside (it was a weekend night, so quite easy for someone drunk to be walking around) or something.

Now, the problem is I like to watch shows like CSI or Murdoch Mysteries. So many scenarios started playing in my head and I totally freaked myself out. I couldn’t sleep. I watched the clock until after 4 in the morning, praying the whole time that we would be safe from everything. And it is surely by God’s good grace that I was able to fall asleep sometime after 4. I am so thankful for a God that is willing to protect me and give me peace, even over such things as my own made-up fears.

After I spent a long time sleeping in, I got up and ate, did some more cleaning, In the afternoon, I started getting ready for the big show that evening. I was going to the Muscle Beach Fall Classic and going to see Dennis Wolf! How exciting!

So when evening came, my husband and I got ready, and headed out. We spent a little bit of time going to few booths they had there: Cellucor, My Muscle Meals, Bio X, Mutant, Muscle Beach, Xaocai, and a couple others. I waited until intermission to purchase these new protein cookies hand made and produced at some protein cafe that I hadn’t heard of before. Man, they were good! And to think they were made with cottage cheese… Normally I can’t stand cottage cheese with anything sweet, but you couldn’t even tell it was in there. It was so good!

After intermission, I was so happy! It was time for Mr. Dennis Wolf to grace the stage! Ah! I cannot tell you my excitement! He is probably my favourite male bodybuilder. I love his attitude, his dedication, and just everything. And after watching him in the movie Generation Iron, then watching him online compete at Olympia and seeing his awesome attitude of dancing in the confetti blast on stage, and actually being able to see him in person and get my picture with him? It was amazing!

He posed to the first song completely on stage. They gave him a break, then he posed to a second song while walking up and down the middle aisles of our venue. My husband was second away from the aisle, and I was third. How massive he was in person! And then getting my picture with him; he’s just pure muscle. That man is huge. It was such a good night!

Following that, my husband and I stopped at Boston Pizza for a quick bite to eat. No, after being so motivated by all the competitors on stage and knowing that is my goal, to be on that stage, it was not the greatest choice of places. But I was still able to make a good choice by getting a salad with chicken. You just gotta learn how to make the best of every situation!

I’m looking forward to my workouts this week and pushing as hard as I can. My 21 days of meals from Fresh Fit Foods starts tomorrow, and I’m just pumped for making the best of every minute. Motivation levels are higher than ever, here I go!

Week 2 Day 1

Today was an incredibly busy day. My husband and I had to get ready, get our four dogs ready, and make a couple stops before driving the 45 minutes to make it to a softball tournament hosted as a fundraiser for my school. We spent most of the 2 hours we were there monitoring kids as they loved our dogs and wanted to walk them and play with them. Thankfully, our dogs love attention and love kids so for the most part this went well (except the kid that starting trying to empty his water bottle on my dog… I was not happy).

I managed to pack some already cooked rice that I had set aside and a package of beef jerky to take with me. Lesson learned: cold rice is awful! But do what you can to eat healthy.

We left the tournament and dropped by our house to leave three of them at home. We took the fourth (Jewel) to her grooming appointment.

While she was being groomed, we went to Home Depot looking at tools, and then to H&W Produce to pick up some veggies.

After we picked Jewel up, we brought her back home with the others.

We then headed to the other side of the city to go to Shoppers Drug Mart, then ate at the Mongolie Grill. We chose this restaurant because it is very macro friendly. It’s basically a salad bar but for stir fry. You pick and choose what you want for veggies, proteins, sauces, etc… and they grill it up for you. Easy way to get in good food while you’re out.

Our final stop after the Mongolie Grill was Wal-Mart for some groceries.

It was a hectic, busy day but I managed to eat on track and succeeded in accomplishing a lot today. By the time I was done my workout (hard workout, 7 exercises in circuit format, pushed really hard with a little Olympia motivation) I felt so sick. Sick enough that I didn’t know whether my body wanted to vomit/sleep or what it wanted; sick enough that my husband almost made me pull over and let him drive the 5 minutes home. I was in rough shape.

Even though I felt so awful, I got it done and to me that is what matters. Can’t be successful if you don’t do the work!

Week 1 Day 6/7

Hey guys!

So I actually just got done watching Mr. Olympia! I’ve never watched it before but it is my goal to get there someday! First as a spectator, then as a competitor. The intense training begins with the challenge I’m doing now and will continue with possibly a coach after. I’m so pumped about it!

So not much to report about my challenge today. It was a rest day so I simply watched my nutrition and dropped my calories a bit.

They had a dedication service at my church over our school so that was a much needed uplifting experience this morning. And I got to spend some time with my husband today which hasn’t really happened all week so that was awesome. We went out to eat at the Canadian Brewhouse. We have never been there before tonight because neither of us drink, but we were told the food was good so we decided to check it out.

I ordered the taco salad and it was delicious! It’s basically your taco salad veggies in a tortilla bowl (don’t have to eat that) with sliced, grilled chicken breast on top and salsa and sour cream on the side. Totally healthy and you get to control the toppings! Loved it! Totally felt like a cheat meal but fit right into my macros.

So other than that, today was a pretty chill day, but I’m noticing some restlessness. I can’t wait to get back into the gym tomorrow!
