Banana Island – Healing Journey Day 21

Journal:
Today, I finally did it. I did a full day of consuming only bananas. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, but it wasn’t overly hard either. My biggest complaint is simply that everything seems so sweet to me now so the ripe bananas are almost too sweet, but the majority of my bananas tasted not as ripe. There was no perfect middle today.

I didn’t do much in the morning. In the afternoon, I managed to get up, gather a few things that I had left at work, and went to the gym. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the earlier Sabbath hour, I had enough energy to do a full hour of cardio on the elliptical instead of the normal half hour I did. I hadn’t even eaten that much today so I’m not completely sure where the energy was coming from. But regardless, it felt good to feel so good.

What didn’t feel good today was my neck. All the stress is starting to show in physical symptoms. I had an ache in my hip (never had this before without just cause) and my neck was in pain. Ugh… live a stress-free life as much as possible! The suffering is not worth it.

Other than that, the rest of the evening was very “chill” as well. No further developments have happened at my mother-in-law’s except for her own upgrading in security equipment. But just to be sure, when nobody was home, my dogs were also at taken out and put at the grandparents. No risks taken when not necessary.

Total bananas eaten for the day = 8.

Review of Symptoms:
-Energy is good.
-Caught up on some sleep = awesome!
-Lazy Day = nice break amongst the stress.
-Not craving bananas… would have been nicer to add a little coconut sugar to not very sweet bananas but I wanted to be completely reliant on solely bananas.
-Tastebuds are definitely much more sensitive.
-Elimination hugely improved!

Weight at the end of the day = 174.6 lbs (still the same)

Total Calories = approx. 923 (94% carbs, 3% fat, 3% protein)

Now That I’ve Got It – A Typical Vegan Day

As many of you know, my original transition to a vegan lifestyle was a little rocky at first. I wasn’t always consistent, I had a few trips that made eating vegan very difficult, and I definitely had some struggles sticking to my Raw Till 4 principles. However, the time has come where I can honestly say I’ve been successfully following a vegan lifestyle and eating on point with the RawTill4 principles for the past couple weeks. Can I just say I’m in love?

(Check out this post to see all the positive things I have to say so far:) Success of Going Vegan (Approx. 2 Weeks Solid)

So here is what I eat in a typical day for those that are wondering.

Waking Up: Water. Get the hydration started.

Breakfast: Watermelon (a whole one), or pulpy pure Orange Juice (about 2-2.5L), or 1 Honeydew, or 1 Cantaloupe, or 6-8 Banana Smoothie (bananas, water, coconut sugar)

Lunch: Banana Smoothie (bananas, water, coconut sugar), or Freelee’s Datorade (20 dates or more blended with water and coconut sugar until milky consistency), or Apples (like 8-10), or Pears (like 8-10), or Stone Fruit (peaches, plums, apricots, etc… eat lots!), or DragonFruit (a few), or Mango (8-10)

Supper: This one varies because it’s cooked! If I’m going out, vegan pizza, vegan burritos, vegan burrito bowls, vegan Indian food (love it!), vegan burger, or this awesome stir fry place we have called Mongolie Grill where you load up a bowl as much as you want from the stir fry bar (veggies galore!), and they do it up on a large open grill, served with your choice of rice or noodles (I always pick coconut rice). If I’m eating in, tonnes of potatoes with lettuce and sweet chilli sauce, or rice and seaweed, or pasta with low sodium pasta sauce.

Snacks: Dates, or bananas, or any fruit I have (strawberries, cherries, blueberries, blackberries, etc…)

Honestly, I’ve never felt so satisfied! I eat as much of the item as I want. The key is that I try not to combine my breakfast and lunch meals (eat multiples of the same fruit), I keep my melons to the morning, and I don’t drink with my meals (or at least I’m 97% at doing this). It’s all about the rate of digestion. Look it up and try it out!

I Don’t Know Why I’ve Never Tried This Before!

So as many of you know, one of my biggest inspirations for my vegan lifestyle is Freelee the Banana Girl. I have watched so many of her videos because it is so important to see the raw vegan lifestyle at work. And especially since my husband doesn’t support my raw vegan lifestyle (yet), I need to have some sense of support around me. Her videos are amazing (minus the sometimes swearing).

So I was inspired to make her Datorade yesterday. I took my bag of deglet noor dates and my coconut sugar with me to school. I blended up about 20 dates, 1/4 to 1/2 cup of coconut sugar, and the rest filled with water. OH MY GOODNESS! It is SO GOOD! I actually ended up making a second batch later. So in love ❤ I really don’t know why I didn’t make it before!

The First True Day – What Made the Difference!

I am so proud of myself today! Today is the first day I feel totally confident saying I ate a true Rawtill4 diet!

Here’s what I ate:

Breakfast/Snack : 2.63L of pulpy orange juice

Lunch: 6 Bananas blended with water and 1/4 cup of coconut sugar

Afternoon Snack: 1 cup dried banana

Supper: Burrito Bowl (Brown beans, black beans, brown rice, green pepper, pico de galo, mild salsa, cilantro, guacamole, lime vinaigrette)

I feel so good today! So good! But it got me thinking… what made today so much better than other days? One main answer: I had the equipment available and things ready to go!

Think about it: Drinking orange juice is easy. When a blender is clean and ready to go, it’s super easy to throw everything in and blend it up. And then for supper, when you have a little more time, throwing some things together in a bowl.

I’m so satisfied and happy with this diet, and my digestion has been changing today too… for the better I’m sure!

I’m excited! Feel free to ask questions about my change in food choices, and anything you may be curious about!
