Kara by Carole Gift Page

I finished the book Kara last week. It is a small, 159-page novel. The story of Kara is so complex. Here is a girl that starts out her life with familiarities and a strong connection with her father. When her father mysteriously dies in a car accident, her mother becomes so depressed, an alcoholic, and a chain smoker. Not only was she disconnected from her mother, but she also felt a daily pang and loneliness with her father’s death.

One night, a fire will change her life forever. Suddenly, everything that was familiar is not longer familiar. Everything she believed to be the truth about her life was a lie. And she begins a journey to discover the truth about who she is.

This book is fast-paced, never dull, and vividly describes the dangers of living life on your own too early, or the work involved in discovering family secrets, and the repairs that are made possible in broken relationships.

It is a great story that will play with your emotions and will send you on an adventure of self-discovery with a highly confused Kara.
